Career and Technical Education (CTE) Technical Skills Assessments (TSAs) and Attainment in Maryland Public Schools and Community Colleges

Technical Skills Assessments are locally-developed end-of-course assessments that lead to college credit or third-party assessments that lead to a recognized postsecondary credential. Postsecondary credentials may include an industry-recognized certificate or certification, a certificate of completion of an apprenticeship, a license recognized by the State of Maryland or Federal Government, or an associate degree (as defined by section 3 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (29 U.S.C. 3102)).

The CTE Technical Skills Assessments in the Maryland Public School Dashboard provides an analysis of the attainment of TSAs by local education agency, career cluster, school, gender, race and student groups. The TSAs Dashboard can be used to evaluate whether CTE programs of study are effectively preparing students for careers and to inform professional learning for teachers.
